Chose a picture in background layer - it has a padlock - to be able to work with this layer, double click background in layers on the right, A new layer message comes up - name the layer - OK - it is now a normal layer.
To make a vector mask layer on top to hide teh contents of the picture
Click on layer - vector mask - hide all
On the right in layers it now shows the picture and the vector mask linked to each other.
Select elipse tool from the left tool bar
Drag the mouse to form an elipse or press shift key to make a circle. Now press shift key to add more circles to select a picture from below.
When you are happy with the selection, click underneath the layer on the right to see what it is like as a complete composition
